Born 1989 or 1990. Studied mathematics at Stanford, then worked briefly at Khan Academy. In 2015 he started a YouTube channel called 3Blue1Brown — named for the colour pattern of his own eyes — to see whether mathematics could be explained the way he wished it had been explained to him.

The videos became the reference point for a generation of learners: Essence of Calculus, Essence of Linear Algebra, the neural networks series, the series on differential equations. He built his own Python animation library, manim, which is now used by educators worldwide.

He accepts no advertising on his videos, relies on viewer donations, and works alone. The result is quiet but enormous: mathematics on YouTube simply looks different because of him.
