From childhood, Donna Eden could perceive the body's energy fields directly — a capacity that determined the direction of her life. Where others might have treated this as a purely personal faculty, she worked to understand what she was seeing and to develop a system that could be taught to others. That system drew on traditions comparable to acupressure and therapeutic touch, and over time became the foundation of her career as a teacher and practitioner of energy medicine.

Her primary contribution is Energy Medicine, co-authored with her husband David Feinstein. The book presents a methodical framework for working with the body's energy systems to support health and wellbeing, and has been translated into twelve languages. Through workshops and live presentations, Eden has taught around fifty thousand people worldwide how to apply its techniques. Carolyn Myss described it as one of the foundational studies for holistic medicine — a standing it has maintained as the field developed.

Eden has continued to teach internationally, her sessions noted for audience participation and live demonstration of the techniques laid out in her book. The central move of her career — translating a personal perceptual ability into a structured, repeatable methodology — is what allowed her work to travel at scale, reaching practitioners across disciplines. Energy Medicine remains in wide circulation across twelve languages and stands as the primary introductory text for the field.
